Top 10 Foreign-Invested Chain Stores In China

A list of the largest foreign funded chain stores in mainland China, as measured by revenues.

China Chain Store & Franchise Association recently released an annual survey of China industry in 2013. Below is the list of largest foreign-funded chain stores in mainland, measured by revenues.

1 – RT-MART 大润发
RT Mart is a Taiwan based hypermarket. As of 2013, it has 264 stores and revenue increase of 10.6% YoY.

2 – Wal-Mart 沃尔玛
Walmart entered the Chinese market and opened its first Supercenter and Sam’s Club in Shenzhen in 1996. By the end of 2013, it has 407 stores, an increase of 3% YoY.

3 – Yum! 百胜餐饮集团
Yum! Brands in China include KFC, Pizza Hut, East Dawning and Little Sheep. It has 6000 stores by year-end 2013.

4 – Carrefour 家乐福
Carrefour had 236 outlets in China by the end of 2013 and said it plans to add 20 each year in the market.

5 – Fivestar Appliance 五星电器
Fivestar Appliance is a subsidiary of Best Buy Corpration. In 2013, it’s revenue totaled 26.6 billion yuan in China.

6 – TESCO 特易购乐购
Tesco, a British retailer, has completed the formation of a Joint Venture with China Resources Enterprise, Limited (“CRE”) to create the leading multi-format retailer in China. By the end of 2013, it has 144 stores in mainland.

7 – Parkson 百盛
Parkson is a Malasian-based department store with 58 stores around China in 2013.

8 – Golden Eagle International Shopping Mall 金鹰国际购物中心
Hong Kong-funded Golden Eagle International Shopping Mall had 27 stores in China.

9 – Metro AG 麦德龙
Metro is Germany’s largest wholesale and retail supermarket. As of 2013, it has 75 stores and revenue increase of 14.4% YoY.

10 – LOTTE MART 乐天玛特
Lotte Mart is an East Asian hypermarket,with headquarters in Japan. By the end of 2013, it has 110 stores in China. Visit CCFA webiste for more details
